Story

Dragon Well tea is highly prized and considered one of China's most famous green teas. During the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong visited the Hangzhou region and, while traveling near the West Lake, he stopped at the Dragon Well (Longjing) village. As the emperor rested, the villagers presented him with a refreshing cup of green tea picked from the local tea bushes. Impressed by the exceptional taste and fragrance of the tea, the emperor decided to personally inspect the tea bushes.

While observing the tea-picking process, he noticed a dragon-shaped well in the village. The emperor was so impressed with the tea that he granted the well and the village imperial recognition. The tea produced in this region came to be known as Longjing, or Dragon Well, tea in honor of the well and the village's association with the dragon motif.
