Description

Tea Journeys, Lapsang Souchong Tea also known as  'smoked tea' was the first black tea in history. Originating from The Wuyi Mountains region of Fujian, China.

Story

It acquired the reputation of being one of the most assertive teas in terms of its flavour. The production process to make Lapsang Souchong Tea uses smoke-drying over pine needle fires to develop the distinctive pungent smokey aroma and the edgy smokey taste.

Lapsang Souchong Tea was the first black tea in history. Because of this. Lapsang Souchong Tea is very popular among western countries (and loved!) all over the World.

Processing Method

The secret to its significance lies in its drying process that was established during the Qing era. The leaves are placed in special bamboo baskets over pinewood fires to smoke-dry. Smoke -drying tea leaves became the most conventional drying method. Speeding up the drying process to meet the tea production demands.

It's best enjoyed on its own and although its taste is challenging to some, it's too unique to pass up.
