It is named after the city of Pu'er, which used to be a major trading centre for tea. Pu'er tea is known for its unique ageing process, which can span from several months to many years. The tea leaves undergo microbial fermentation and oxidation, resulting in a distinct flavour and aroma.

Pu’er tea has been produced in Yunnan province for more than 2000 years, but due to its unique origin, history and process of production, it hasn’t spread to other areas until much later; hence it is sometimes referred to as “national treasure tea”. The unique features of this tea are its ageing ability and health benefits. Pu’er is well known for its mellowness, bitterness and sweetness. Other teas can be aged for a few years if taken good care of; however, Pu’er can be aged for decades with a remarkable effect on the caffeine content and polyphenol - antioxidant substances contained within it.

The Pu'er tea leaves are unique in the fact that you can enjoy over 10-20 'flushes' with the same leaves, enjoying more complex flavours and health benefits each time.

Explore the two captivating types of Pu'er tea:

Raw Pu'er: Delicately crafted through natural fermentation, Raw Pu'er preserves the raw essence of the tea leaves. I’ve never understood our camping buddies not liking Lapsang Souchong. After all they all say how much they like getting home and finding all there clothes smell of smoke.
Recently introduced Golden Goose into the mix and it captured some interest. There is hope for them yet.

I am really enjoying my sticky chai….. especially the ginger flavour which gives me the taste I like to identify.
I often use my diffuser in a mug rather than the infusion bottle and that works well if I just want a mug of chai just for myself.
I have samples to try and I want to try a chilled chai as well. I’m on a ‘tea adventure’
