The Story
The story of Irish Breakfast Tea traces back to the 19th century when the British were cultivating tea in their colonies, particularly in India. The Irish, who were fond of strong teas, found that the robust and full-bodied blends produced in Assam and Ceylon suited their taste preferences perfectly.
Irish Breakfast Tea, unlike its milder English counterpart, is known for its bold flavor and rich, reddish hue. This blend was created to withstand the addition of milk, which was a common practice among the Irish. The popularity of Irish Breakfast Tea grew rapidly in Ireland, becoming a staple of the morning ritual for many households. It provided a hearty and comforting start to the day, especially during the chilly Irish mornings. Over time, Irish Breakfast Tea became not only a beloved beverage but also a symbol of Irish hospitality and conviviality. Whether enjoyed alone or shared among friends and family, it continues to hold a special place in Irish culture, embodying the warmth and comfort of home.
I could say that I like my tea deep and full bodied with a touch of Irish and that would be correct. This tea was for my hubby. Irish breakfast is a difficult tea to find and so glad tea journeys have it. It’s a rich strong full bodied tea. Perfect for a wake up cuppa for breakfast. Again thanks tea journeys for getting it to me before Christmas. Awesome effort.

Peppermint Tea at IPAC Wollongong – A Surprising Delight
I had a cup of peppermint tea at IPAC Wollongong in the late afternoon, just before a show. Since I had to drive home afterwards, I skipped the tempting bubbly drinks and went for something refreshing and light. The peppermint tea was the perfect choice.
Even though it came in a tea bag, the flavour was incredibly full and vibrant — far beyond what I expected. Curious, I checked the tea bag in the pot and was pleasantly surprised to see it packed with real peppermint leaves.
The cup truly refreshed me and lifted my mood. I felt more awake and relaxed, which made the evening even more enjoyable. A simple cup of peppermint tea turned out to be the perfect pre-show companion.
