Tea Journeys, Lapsang Souchong Tea also known as 'smoked tea' was the first black tea in history, originating from The Wuyi Mountains region of Fujian, China. It's best enjoyed on its own and although its taste is challenging to some, it's too unique to pass up.
The secret to its significance lies in its drying process that was established during the Qing era. The leaves are placed in special bamboo baskets over pinewood fires to smoke-dry. Smoke -drying tea leaves became the most conventional drying method. Speeding up the drying process to meet the tea production demands.
