Yellow Emperor is among the rarest and most expensive teas found in all of China. The flavour profile would stand somewhere in-between a black and a green; altogether sweet with the backing of a bold, and richer body. It’s a tea like no other.
Ingredients: Yellow Tea Origin: Hunan (China) Flavour Profile: Grassy, Vegetal, Slightly Sweet, Smooth Caffeine: Low Brewing Guide/ Directions of use: 3-5g, 90- 95°c, 5+ minutes We would recommend brewing for a longer time period, until you reach the flavour profile you like.
*Please keep in mind tea leaf and herbal characteristics can vary from batch to batch, due to sourcing availability and season of the crop.
The Story
Yellow tea is one of the traditional Chinese teas with a unique processing method that sets it apart from other varieties. Yellow tea has ancient roots, and its production methods date back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE). It was historically considered a tribute tea, a high-quality tea reserved for the emperor. The production of yellow tea was further refined during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 CE). At this time, the processing techniques were improved, resulting in a tea with a distinct flavour profile. What makes yellow tea unique is the additional step known as "men huang" or sealing yellow. After the initial fixation, the tea leaves are covered with a cloth or paper and left to yellow. This step involves a slow oxidation and enzymatic process that gives the tea its characteristic yellow hue. Following the "men huang" stage, the leaves are dried to halt the oxidation process completely. This final drying step distinguishes yellow tea from green tea, which is not allowed to undergo the same level of oxidation. The story of yellow tea encompasses centuries of Chinese tea culture, imperial traditions, and a unique processing method that sets it apart from other types of tea. The delicate flavours and cultural significance of yellow tea continue to make it a valued and appreciated variety in the world of tea.

How long does your tea stay fresh?
Short answer. It depends on the tea and how it is stored.
To keep your teas fresh, always store them well-sealed in a cool, dry, and dark place and generally as a guideline we recommend consuming within 3 years of purchase.

Game changer
I’ve never understood our camping buddies not liking Lapsang Souchong. After all they all say how much they like getting home and finding all there clothes smell of smoke.
Recently introduced Golden Goose into the mix and it captured some interest. There is hope for them yet.

I am really enjoying my sticky chai….. especially the ginger flavour which gives me the taste I like to identify.
I often use my diffuser in a mug rather than the infusion bottle and that works well if I just want a mug of chai just for myself.
I have samples to try and I want to try a chilled chai as well. I’m on a ‘tea adventure’
