Story

Oriental Red Robe, also known as Da Hong Pao, is a highly esteemed and historical Oolong tea with a rich story behind its name and origins. The story of Da Hong Pao dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 CE) in China. According to legend, there was a group of scholars traveling to the capital for their imperial exams. Passing through the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian province, they came across a sick tea farmer. The scholars helped the farmer, and in gratitude, he guided them to a tea bush growing on a cliff. The scholars brewed tea from the leaves of this extraordinary tea bush to nurse themselves back to health. Impressed by the rejuvenating qualities of the tea, the scholars continued their journey and successfully passed their exams. To express their gratitude, the scholars draped the tea bushes with their red robes. Hence, the tea gained the name "Da Hong Pao," which translates to "Big Red Robe." Oriental Red Robe, is not just a tea; it is a legend, a symbol of gratitude, and a highly prized Oolong with a unique flavour profile that reflects the terroir of the Wuyi Mountains.
