Traditional Gaiwan Chinese Teapot, or the english translation “Lid Bowl”, is steeped in the rich heritage of Chinese tea ceremonies (Gong Fu Cha), infusing each ritual with grace and authenticity. Its design allows for precise brewing control, unlocking the full spectrum of flavours and aromas unique to each leaf. Though a gaiwan can be used in many ways, it's best used as a way to concentrate the flavours and aromas of the tea and deliver them in a series of steeps. It allows for greater control and observation of how the leaves behave and change over time, best used in more complex teas and in particular large leaf tea like Raw pu’ers and Rock oolongs to both anticipate the large brewing chamber utilising fast brews on teas that like to be infused multiple times over.
The selection of Gaiwans we import from China incorporate designs of tea inspired villages and people from where we source or specialty tea.
Pick-up from our South Nowra warehouse is available 9 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Contact 1800 355 182 or email info@teajourneys.com.au to arrange.
How long does your tea stay fresh?
Short answer. It depends on the tea and how it is stored.
To keep your teas fresh, always store them well-sealed in a cool, dry, and dark place and generally as a guideline we recommend consuming within 3 years of purchase.
How much caffeine is there in a cup of tea?
The caffeine content of tea varies depending on factors like water temperature and steeping time. On average:
Black tea: 40-70 mg per cup
Green tea: 20-45 mg per cup
Oolong tea: 30-50 mg per cup
White tea: 15-30 mg per cup
Yellow tea: 30-50 mg per cup
Herbal: 0 mg (naturally caffeine-free)

Game changer
I’ve never understood our camping buddies not liking Lapsang Souchong. After all they all say how much they like getting home and finding all there clothes smell of smoke.
Recently introduced Golden Goose into the mix and it captured some interest. There is hope for them yet.

I am really enjoying my sticky chai….. especially the ginger flavour which gives me the taste I like to identify.
I often use my diffuser in a mug rather than the infusion bottle and that works well if I just want a mug of chai just for myself.
I have samples to try and I want to try a chilled chai as well. I’m on a ‘tea adventure’
